BRAND PROTECT

TRADE MARK ADMINISTRATION AND FEE EARNER VACANCIES

At Brand Protect, we have two vacancies (full- or part-time):
one for an Intellectual Property (IP) professional with 5-10 years’ experience in this area,
and the other for someone who is experienced in trade mark (TM) administration.

We can, to some extent, adjust the job description(s) to accommodate a great candidate’s experience. It is their enthusiasm and aptitude for IP - and trade marks in particular - that is vital to these roles; as well as their ability to understand the issues facing a small, specialist business that is growing rapidly.

Brand Protect is a small niche legal services firm that focuses entirely on IP. As a result, both of these roles provide the trademark specialist with an opportunity to develop relationships with clients, and to truly understand their business and enhance their competitive advantage in this area.

At Brand Protect, we aim to help all colleagues develop their IP knowledge and commercial abilities and therefore - if required - further training and CPD will be available by partner supervision and by attendance at lectures, as appropriate.

Remuneration is dependent on experience; Brand Protect is prepared to pay a salary that is significantly above average for the right candidate and to provide very flexible working conditions if required.
The office is in Ardley (close to Junction 10 of the M40) in rural Oxfordshire and is not served by public transport; extensive car parking is available.

TRADE MARK/ IP FEE EARNER
(FULL- or PART-TIME)

Working in a small business environment, the fee-earner will be in a position to influence all aspects of running a service business. It is our developing client base of corporate and SME companies that has led to our current growth and requirement to increase our number of fee-earners. Almost all our ‘new business’ comes to us through recommendation. We have a strong international reputation, and seek to build and extend our connections in the wider world.

We are aiming to recruit a ‘fee-earner’ who holds a good honours degree (or equivalent) and who: can demonstrate commercial awareness of the value of intellectual property; already has some experience and understanding of IP issues; has an enthusiasm for mastering IP concepts; and possesses excellent communication skills.

We will also consider capable staff from industry (e.g. in-house, brand or patent management roles) if they can demonstrate a track record of competence and success in IP related areas.

In general, the work focuses on: conducting searches and advising clients on the availability of trade marks for registration, use, opposition, revocation, invalidation and assignment proceedings, the prosecution of TM applications and managing clients’ TM portfolios. The complexity of work will vary depending on the fee-earner’s experience and competence.
